           It  is a 2017 American supernatural horror film directed by Andy Muschietti, based on the 1986 novel of the same name by Stephen King. The screenplay is by Chase Palmer, Cary Fukunaga and Gary Dauberman. The film tells the story of seven children in Derry, Maine, who are terrorized by a clown-like being. It has grossed $327.5 million in the United States and Canada, and $372.9 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $700.4 million, against a production budget of $35 million.
   It used many marketing techniques to produce a successful movie through many venues, including social media. Initially the worldwide clown sighting, were meant to publicize the film. Although the producing company only takes partial credit, it was a viral marketing stunt, that increased the fear of clowns in society. Furthermore, red balloons were placed throughout cities, partially in road grates, to further promote the film. Moreover, producer, Muschietti began to post missing children posters from the fictional world of It on his Instagram before the release of the movie. This allowed followers to grow anticipation and excitement for the release of the film. Overall, social media was a huge platform for the movie and its fan base.

It produced many trailers and 90 second teasers. The first trailer was released on March 11, 2017 at the South by Southwest Festival and was well received by critics. This was followed by a longer trailer 17 days later to be released at CinemaCon and the official trailer being posted on YouTube, receiving 197 million views within the first 24 hours. Moreover, Entertainment Weekly released new images and concept art of the film. Additionally, on July 19th three reels of footage were shown at San Diego Comic-Con. Therefore, the teasers and trailer releases produced a large fan base, increasing the excitement for the film release.
           It followed the traditional 90 wait period before home video release, as The film was released on digital download on December 19, 2017, and was released on 4K, Blu-ray and DVD on January 9, 2018.
